Schools can play a key role in mental health prevention, reaching most children during critical periods. Many national preventionstrategies therefore describe a range of schoolbased activities and outcomes. However, in reality, prevention at schools arises from a complex system of various stakeholders and flows of policies, funding, and information.To enable systematic improvement of schoolbased prevention, we created and compared two system maps: an observed system map based on workshops with school staff and a prescribed system map based on analysis of strategic documents.
Owing to internationally recognised population-based cancer registry, Estonian cancer incidence data are available for more than 50 years – since 1968. Over time, the annual number of new cancer cases has increased significantly. A total of 9,196 new cancer cases were registered in Estonia in 2022, with 4,563 cases diagnosed in men and 4,633 in women. Leading cancer sites in men were similar to previous years – the prostate (29% of all cancers in men) followed by non-melanoma skin (12%) and lung (11%).
A study of syringe residues provides an answer to which psychoactive substances are used by people who inject drugs in different regions of Estonia. Iti s chemically objective information that helps: to get a good overview of the regional drug market,to provide input for early warning users,to better plan harm reduction (including overdose prevention) and treatment activities.The study is led by the National Institute for Health Development, and the analysis was conducted by the Estonian Forensic Science Institute.

This report summarises the results of local-level prevention plan assessments conducted as part of the Frontline Politeia project, as well as lessons learned from cooperating with local communities during the project.
Aim: Creating guidelines for assessing the quality of community prevention plans (in the form of a prevention plan assessment form), analysing prevention plans obtained from communities participating in the Frontline Politeia project, and summarising feedback on community cooperation during the project.
